The Torino Wireless Foundation is a public-private partnership working to promote and support the development of innovation. Italian Ministry of Research and Piedmont institutions started up Torino Wireless in 2002 with the aim of developing the first Italian Technological District. Our mission is to contribute to the competitiveness of our region, accelerating the growth of companies using technology as a strategic development factor, and helping institutions in designing and managing innovation processes. We currently manages and coordinates the Regional ICT Innovation Cluster (since 2008) and the National  Technology Cluster on Smart Communities (since 2012).

We help companies in participating in financed projects (regional, national or EU measures) and in partners searching, including the organization of business networking opportunities, such as B2B meetings, corporate meetings, elevator pitches, etc., to make companies find potential research, industry and trade partners. Moreover we have also developed a specific expertise in supporting municipalities and local authorities in development and drafting of plans, projects and programs for Smart City and innovation. Success cases are the Master Plan of Torino Smart City (SMILE – Smart Mobility, Inclusion, Life & Health, Energy), and many feasibility studies: “Italy 150” Banking Card, the integrated ticketing system of the Piedmont Region, the wi-fi coverage of urban areas.

In the European context, we act as a research center and participates with different roles in Research, Innovation, Coordination and Support projects.
