Divieto di oppressione is an exhibition exploring Turin’s contemporary protest scene and the struggles for the rights of the most oppressed people: from the Askatasuna movement to the large demonstrations for Palestine, from Pride marches to transfeminist and women’s struggles, as well as actions for the environment and workers’ rights, and the No TAV and No CPR movements.
Demonstrating is one of the most political and democratic acts that every citizen can exercise to defend their own rights and those of others. Yet demonstrations are often targeted by the violent arm of power, which can shift from being a protective institution to becoming an oppressive force. Protest has always challenged those in power and remains one of the strongest safeguards of democracy.
Through the visual materials collected, the exhibition aims to tell the story of and reflect on the political meaning of protest, the experiences of those who take part, the current state of these struggles and how to engage with these spaces of collective action.
The exhibition will run from October 2 to 25, with the following opening hours:
- TUE–THU: 3:00 PM–7:00 PM
- FRI–SAT: 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
