On October 15, 2026, Fondazione Mamre ETS will organise the conference “Giovani al Centro MAMRE – Towards a Hybrid Sociocultural Space”, dedicated to the creation of a new space for young people in Turin’s Barriera di Milano neighbourhood. The event will open with institutional greetings from Stefano Lo Russo, Mayor of Turin.

The morning will be dedicated to presenting the design process, exploring the proposals developed and using virtual reality, alongside a discussion on experiences of hybrid spaces, sustainability and the project’s impact on the local area.

The Spazio Mamre Giovani project was created with the aim of developing a place for meeting, participation and opportunity, where younger generations can build skills, express themselves and contribute to the cultural and social life of the local community.

The process has involved young people, students, universities, schools, professionals, institutions, associations and local organisations. During the first half of 2026, the voices of 180 young people were collected, while 101 Architecture students developed 20 projects for the new space. Dialogue with local organisations also identified 50 possible activities.

In the afternoon, the process will continue with co-creation workshops coordinated by Urban Lab, focusing on activities, collaborations and the project’s next steps.

The event will provide an opportunity for dialogue and exchange, transforming the design work carried out so far into a new phase of collaboration, with the aim of building together a space capable of supporting young people’s autonomy and participation.
