The Benefit Corporations project was launched in early 2022 in response to a specific request from organisations belonging to the Torino Social Impact ecosystem. The pathway is called “Fit4Benefit” and is structured around a series of practical “impact exercises” designed to address the key aspects of becoming and operating as a Benefit Corporation through a shared approach. 

The pilot initiative began with the establishment of a working group conceived as a space for dialogue, knowledge sharing and networking among the network’s partner Benefit Corporations. Following an initial phase aimed at analysing the group’s specific needs and mapping the expertise that the organisations involved were willing to pool, a shared and co-designed programme of activities was developed according to a peer learning approach. 

The involvement of four Benefit Corporations in the design process enabled the development of a proposal specifically tailored to this business model and to the innovative ways in which these organisations conduct their economic activities, generating not only economic value for the local area, but also social and environmental value. 

Through its first two editions, Fit4Benefit promoted networking, training and peer learning activities aimed at building shared knowledge, developing joint projects and fostering new relationships among participating organisations. With the launch of its third edition, the Community of Practice was further strengthened through a collaboration with the Industrial Union of Turin, with the aim of promoting the Benefit Corporation model and encouraging dialogue with the local business community.

The Community of Practice is open to Benefit Corporations and to companies interested in embarking on this pathway that belong to the Torino Social Impact and Industrial Union of Turin networks.

Underpinning this initiative is the belief that the knowledge generated must be able to circulate and evolve, contributing to the development of a shared ‘benefit’ culture across the Turin area.

The Community of Practice is organised in collaboration with the Industrial Union of Turin and co-designed with the benefit corporations Amapola Srl, Futura Law Firm, BDFL Torino S.T.P. and Mercato Circolare, with the support of the Turin Chamber of Commerce and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation.
