What is sustainable mobility? According to the terminology used by the European Union, it refers to the set of individual and public transport modes, along with the management of related infrastructure, aimed at ensuring that transport systems best meet the economic, social and environmental needs of society, while minimizing their negative impacts.
Today, the need to find new solutions for more sustainable mobility in all its dimensions is felt by both citizens and institutions. Achieving the strategic objectives defined at national and EU level over the coming years requires public administration actions to be supported by the industrial sector, advances in scientific research — including academic contributions — forward-looking corporate governance initiatives, and the technological ingenuity of innovative startups, which are increasingly key players in processes of disruption across many areas of collective interest.
Within the framework of Biennale Tecnologia 2026 promoted by Politecnico di Torino, in order to bring together the different types of stakeholders involved in shaping the future of mobility and to provide an overview of recent success stories in collaboration between startups and major players in the transport sector, the Incubator of Politecnico di Torino (I3P) and Iveco Group have organized an open event for Friday, April 17, focused on exploring the topic and presenting case histories in which technological innovation has responded not only to market demand, but also to the need to identify viable pathways for the digital evolution of the sector.
During the event, the initiative Beyond Lab will also be presented — a new open innovation platform launched by Iveco Group and I3P with the aim of connecting startups, SMEs and market partners to experiment with breakthrough technologies and transform innovative ideas into concrete solutions for the transport industry.
The event at I3P will provide an opportunity to explore the technological projects of four innovative startups developed within the incubator and now active in the mobility sector:
- ALBA Robot offers seamless autonomous mobility, powering the digital future of indoor and pedestrian spaces on an international scale;
- Point Zero aims to revolutionize the automotive sector and significantly reduce the overall carbon footprint of vehicles;
- Reefilla develops mobile energy storage and power generation solutions based on second-life batteries, delivering energy anywhere for a zero-emissions future;
- Volta Structural Energy transforms structures into energy sources, overcoming the need for dedicated batteries in vehicles on land, at sea, in the air and in space.
How to participate
The event will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 4:30 PM, in person at the Agorà Hall of the I3P incubator, located within the Politecnico di Torino campus and accessible from two pedestrian entrances: Corso Castelfidardo 30/A and Via Borsellino 53/N.
