Fondazione AIEF is dedicated to supporting vulnerable people and promoting inclusive and supportive communities by implementing social projects in the outskirts of Turin. Through its two main sites, the AIEF Centre in Mirafiori and the Castello di Lucento, the Foundation develops educational and rehabilitation activities for children and adolescents in vulnerable situations, initiatives to combat poverty and school dropout, projects supporting elderly people at risk, and job training programmes for people with disabilities.
Between 2022 and 2025, AIEF projects supported 219 vulnerable minors, 512 vulnerable individuals, 1,650 children living in economic poverty, 3,800 students involved in educational programmes, and more than 2,470 families in need. An impact assessment promoted by the Foundation in 2026 to measure the effects generated by its initiatives in a structured way estimated that, compared to €1.4 million in donations raised and invested in activities, the economic value generated for the local area exceeds €4 million, and 79% of beneficiaries reported a significant improvement in their quality of life.
Alongside its educational and social inclusion projects, AIEF is also committed to transforming abandoned spaces. As demonstrated by the creation of the AIEF Centre in Mirafiori and the Castello di Lucento, now Youth Empowerment Centres and key community hubs, the Foundation promotes urban redevelopment and social regeneration initiatives.
Fondazione AIEF is a non-profit organisation founded in 2021 by Tommaso Varaldo, thanks to the donation of artworks by Eugenio Bolley, which form the Foundation’s heritage. The Foundation carries out its mission with the support of companies, foundations and individual donors through donations, bequests and Italy’s “5×1000” tax contribution scheme.
