Borgo Rubens is a place where care, nature and relationships come together.

Open to the local community, it is set within 8 hectares of green space on the hills of Turin, at the foot of the Basilica of Superga.

Borgo Rubens welcomes children and their families, as well as adolescents and adults living with different forms of intellectual, psychological or cognitive vulnerability. Here, each person is supported by a multidisciplinary team of social and healthcare professionals and accompanied along a personalised journey towards greater autonomy and wellbeing.

At the Borgo, nature and beauty are not simply the setting: they are part of the care experience. The team builds genuine relationships based on trust, creating an environment where people can feel welcomed, understood and valued. Horses and dogs also play an important role through carefully designed and structured Animal-Assisted Interventions, which support therapeutic and educational pathways.

Kindness and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do, guiding our work across three interconnected areas: rehabilitation, education and training.

A place to learn, grow and contribute

Borgo Rubens is also home to a Social Bistrot, open to the public for lunch from Monday to Saturday.

The Bistrot offers young people experiencing vulnerability the opportunity to learn and develop practical and interpersonal skills in a real working environment. Following a structured training programme developed with partners such as Costadoro, Piazza dei Mestieri and Marchetti, they gain experience in the kitchen, coffee service and table service.

Every customer who walks through the Bistrot’s doors becomes part of their journey: an opportunity to build confidence, develop skills and experience the satisfaction of contributing to a community.

Hygge: a place to rediscover yourself

Particular attention is devoted to younger generations through Hygge, a project dedicated to adolescents and young adults experiencing social withdrawal and emotional fragility.

The word Hygge comes from a Danish philosophy centred on the pleasure of living in the present moment, with simplicity, warmth and a sense of belonging.

This philosophy inspires the project: a welcoming, non-clinical environment where young people can gradually reconnect with themselves, with others and with the world around them.

Supported by a specialised team and through meaningful relationships with animals, nature and other people, young people who have withdrawn from social life can begin to rediscover their interests, recognise their abilities and regain a sense of possibility for the future.

Through practical activities, creativity, caring for others and animals, and opportunities to socialise at their own pace, they can take small but meaningful steps towards greater confidence, independence and participation.

At Borgo Rubens, care begins with a relationship. And every relationship can open the door to a new possibility.
