Three days in Turin for an advanced training and professional exchange lab on impact journalism, organized by Torino Social Impact and the Corep – “Giorgio Bocca” Master in Journalism at the University of Turin, in collaboration with Anso – National Association of Online Press.
A journey born within Torino Impact Journalism, an initiative curated by Raphael Zanotti, with the aim of exploring how journalism can contribute to promoting change in a context where all societal actors — from institutions to businesses — are called to take action in tackling major environmental and social challenges. Today, hundreds of initiatives around the world are driving global change in journalism. In this landscape, approaches such as solutions journalism or constructive journalism open new paths for transformative information.
In Italy too, these approaches are gaining ground as a valuable compass to revive the ethical and civic role of journalism. By shifting the focus from problems to solutions, they offer a constructive perspective on reality, highlighting effective responses to social challenges that inspire people and organizations to take positive action. This is a narrative oriented towards change — one that doesn’t just describe the world but seeks to improve it, starting from a strong relationship with people, communities, and territories.
Aimed at aspiring and professional journalists, communicators, and enthusiasts of the field, the Impact Journalism Spring Lab will be structured into two segments:
- Morning: Training sessions and discussions on key issues of impact journalism — Solutions Journalism, Social Impact Metrics, and Reader Engagement — with experts from Italy and abroad.
- Afternoon: Hands-on workshops led by professionals in collaboration with socially engaged organizations within the Torino Social Impact network.
The final event will take place in Dogliani, at the TV Festival, where the Impact Journalism Spring Lab will host a roundtable titled “Stories That Make a Difference”, part of the festival’s official program and open to the wider public attending the event. Some lessons will be conducted in English, with no translation provided.
Among the speakers: Tina Rosenberg (Solutions Journalism Network), Lindsay Green Barber (Impact Architects), Lucy Nash (Bureau of Investigative Journalism), Raphael Zanotti (La Stampa), Paola Molino (Eco del Chisone), Marco Giovannelli (Varese News), Federico Tafuni (Will Media), Sara Zambotti (Caterpillar)
The Impact Journalism Spring Lab is open to a maximum of 20 participants and costs €200 + VAT (including round-trip shuttle service to Dogliani). For Anso members, the cost is €150 + VAT. Admission will be granted to the first 20 applicants who fill out the registration form. A waiting list will be created for others.
