Torino Valley was founded in 2009 to promote awareness and development of the culture of innovation, building on the historic activity of the Torino Valley blog, which began in 2005. In 2009, Torino Valley took part in organizing Working Capital: materia per le idee in Turin, a Telecom Italia project aimed at developing entrepreneurial ideas for the Web 2.0 world and the new Internet. In the same year, Torino Valley launched its Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube accounts.
Also in 2009, Torino Valley Association was invited to participate in a research project on the dissemination of scientific culture in Piedmont. In 2010, the Association participated in ESOF 2010 with two projects. In 2016, Torino Valley launched its new Facebook page, aiming to become a hub for the community involved in innovation, digital technology, and startups in Turin and the Piedmont region. In 2017, Torino Valley took over the Startup on Air webradio and podcast project, dedicated to the startup world, with the goal of reviving and expanding it.
In 2019, Torino Valley Association moved its operational headquarters to Rinascimenti Sociali, within spaces provided by Novajo scarl. Torino Valley also began a collaboration with Massa Critica to actively participate in project management. In 2020, together with various local associations in Piedmont, Torino Valley co-designed Seniores Online, a social platform both physical and virtual, to meet the need for connection, knowledge, and information, and to promote active aging in the region.
In 2021, Torino Valley launched BackLinkCamp, an informal online unconference format inspired by barcamps, bringing together bloggers from the first and second eras of the Italian blogosphere.
Also in 2021, Torino Valley became Torino Valley O.d.V., expanding its operational scope to promote in every way the culture of innovation, sustainability, technology, digital development, and entrepreneurship, with particular attention to general culture, food and health culture, social innovation, and scientific, technological, social, and cultural research. In 2022, Torino Valley OdV was registered in the National Single Register of the Third Sector (RUNTS) as a voluntary organization on October 3, 2022.
In 2023, Torino Valley took on the management of the websites for LSDI – Freedom of the Press, Right to Information, a working group and association founded by a few friends involved in various roles within the world of journalism and media.
The Seniores Online project was officially launched in 2023 to create a social platform, both physical and digital, to meet the needs for relationships, knowledge, and information, and to promote active aging in Piedmont. It was selected by the Piedmont Region through a call for projects supporting the implementation of the active aging plan.
At the end of 2024, the Seniorsophia project was launched, aiming to provide cognitive tools, offer skills and case studies, encourage reflection, suggest lifestyles, and raise awareness about places and figures on topics such as science, medicine, digital technology, information, sustainability, and artificial intelligence.
