Forword is a professional association that has been working for 15 years in the fields of cultural and digital accessibility, as well as audiovisual and written translation, combining expertise and creativity.
Our focus is on accessibility services—that is, all those processes that make cultural content accessible to people with sensory or cognitive disabilities and, more broadly, to the widest possible audience, while complying with legal requirements and expanding distribution opportunities in the market.
What are our main areas of work?
Audio description for blind and partially sighted people, interlingual subtitles, subtitles for Deaf and hard-of-hearing people, dialogue adaptation for dubbing, audio-video content creation, accessibility consulting, inclusive writing and communication.
We handle every phase of the workflow, starting from the analysis of the work or the study of the venue, through text writing and revision, voice selection, recording in dubbing studios, and content post-production.
Forword also holds teaching positions at several Italian and international universities and training institutions, and offers tailored courses and mentoring programmes.
Our mission.
All our activities aim to meet the needs of people with sensory disabilities (Deaf and hard of hearing, blind and partially sighted) or cognitive disabilities who wish to enjoy a film, a theatre performance, a museum visit, the content of an exhibition, videos on a platform, an event, or the content of a website.
At the same time, our services address all user groups, with and without disabilities: older people, children, foreigners, people on the autism spectrum, and people with dyslexia. Every project in Forword is designed to be accessible and to promote equal opportunities for participation in culture and entertainment.
The core of our work is social impact. Through all accessibility interventions—subtitling, audio description, dubbing, inclusive writing and intercultural communication strategies—Forword helps break down cultural, linguistic and sensory barriers, fostering fairer access to culture and entertainment.
We collaborate with cultural organisations, foundations, institutions, festivals, independent productions and companies that share our vision: using content as a tool for dialogue, growth and inclusion. For us, every project is an opportunity to generate economic and social value, by placing communication at the service of the community.
