The Giorgio Amendola Foundation is a Third Sector Entity registered with the RUNTS (National Single Register of the Third Sector). It was established to carry out initiatives of social interest and to collect and develop research on the fundamental themes of Giorgio Amendola’s thought.
Giorgio Amendola was a partisan, a liberator of Italy, a Founding Father of the Republic, a prominent intellectual, and one of the leading figures of the Italian Communist Party. He deeply explored key issues of his time, which remain relevant for building a national identity in the post-war era: the disarmament of world powers, détente between ideological blocs, peaceful coexistence and cooperation among peoples, respect for national sovereignty and citizens’ self-determination, and the creation of a new economic order more attentive to the demands of social justice.
The Giorgio Amendola Foundation therefore works concretely to continue cultural research along the lines of Amendola’s thought. It promotes scientific, economic, political, historical, and social studies, encouraging younger generations to engage with these topics and providing tools suitable for the needs of modern society and the contemporary world.
The Foundation also carries out activities aimed at the protection, promotion, and enhancement of the environment, cultural heritage, and works of artistic and historical interest (in accordance with the Law of June 1, 1939, No. 1089, including the assets referred to in Presidential Decree No. 1409 of September 20, 1963, now incorporated into the new Cultural Heritage and Landscape Code).
The Giorgio Amendola Foundation organizes research projects, studies, conferences, exhibitions, and cultural, artistic, and environmental activities. It publishes a series of books, newspapers, and periodicals—both in print and online—and has a library that is part of the National Library Service (SBN), within the Piedmont Regional Network and the Coordination of Special and Specialist Libraries of Turin.
