The Fondazione di Comunità Porta Palazzo (FCPP) works to improve the quality of life of those who live, work, and spend time in Aurora and Porta Palazzo. The foundation works for a socially inclusive and ecologically sustainable transformation of the neighbourhood that does not lead to expulsions, building on the community’s tangible and intangible assets: its social, cultural, and economic fabric, capable of bringing differences together and fostering exchange, interconnected through a network of relationships among people and organizations. The foundation promotes equity, freedom, beauty, social cohesion, solidarity, and social responsibility; it works to strengthen and transmit the value of community, empowering people and local resources, and supporting people in conditions of vulnerability.
FCPP works with a participatory and shared approach, collectively planning its activities. This begins with listening to the community to identify needs and assets, and by including local stakeholders in the foundation’s governance. The Foundation advances a multifaceted program to promote processes of socio-spatial inclusion; the care and stewardship of common goods; access to affordable and sustainable housing and to the social and solidarity economy; the reduction of educational poverty; and the protection of civil rights and the environment. FCPP has a dual model of intervention: it grants resources to local organizations while also directly implementing its own initiatives, always in collaboration with others.
To ensure the achievement of these goals, FCPP raises funds and regularly assesses the relevance, efficiency, effectiveness, and sustainability of its interventions, and measures the social impact of the transformations it promotes—always taking into account both stakeholders and resource-holders.
