Nemo-In.Forma.Citt@ ETS Association was founded in 2017 and carries out activities in the Canavese area, particularly in Chivasso. Over the years, many people have been involved in the initiatives, and today there are about 20 active volunteers, 7 employees, and numerous collaborators dedicated to the development of the association’s activities.

The association develops its initiatives in several areas:

EDUCATIONAL CENTER

  • Enhancement of Italian as a second language (L2) and relational skills through playful teaching techniques;

  • Help Scuola!: free study support and relational reinforcement, individually or in small groups, aimed at students of all school levels; mentoring programs;

  • Storytelling, reading, and creative workshops for children;

  • In-school support for teachers, especially for newly arrived foreign minors;

  • Italian L2 training courses (various levels) and thematic courses for adult foreign students; Mothers’ School;

  • PCTO (career guidance and work-based learning) programs;

  • Training cycles for teachers and educators on Italian L2 teaching and playful teaching;

  • Awareness-raising meetings for schools and the local community;

  • “Spazio Ragazzi”: a meeting, dialogue, and information space for preteens and teens;

  • Information sessions for parents, caregivers, and minors, and discussion groups with specialists.

“THE THREAD THAT CONNECTS US”

In 2018, the association created a Women’s Circle. This gave shape to a cheerful and diverse group of women aged 16 to 80, coming from Chivasso and Castelrosso, from Dakar and Qandahār, and from many other extraordinary places. The women became increasingly passionate about threads, needles, and fabrics and decided to turn the Women’s Circle into a free creative sewing workshop, guided by volunteer instructors Chiara and Silvia. Over the years, the workshop has grown and strengthened; new friends have joined, and the group of volunteer instructors has expanded with Teresa and Licia, who—together with Chiara and Silvia—share their knowledge.

In 2022: the first Christmas market and the first commission.
In 2024: a fabric recycling and reuse project with the Volpiano primary school.
An e-commerce platform for Il Filo che Unisce creations is also being launched.

SOCIAL MEDIATION DESK

Guidance on services, rights, and opportunities offered in the local area, citizenship support, and assistance with administrative and bureaucratic procedures, especially for people with a migratory background. A useful space to find answers and become increasingly informed and aware citizens, located in Via Paleologi 2, Chivasso.

MUNICIPAL COMMUNITY CENTER “FELICE DONATO”

Since September 2023, the association has been managing the Municipality of Chivasso’s senior community center “Felice Donato.” Many initiatives are offered and planned to promote active aging and the physical and psychological well-being of attendees: dance, pilates, music therapy, bocce and card tournaments, bingo, creative workshops, and informational meetings. Associations and local citizens are involved in organizing the activities, with the goal of creating a space for active citizenship—a place of encounter, dialogue, and the building of a cohesive community.

“A Community for a Family” → THREADS OF HOPE

Since 2021, the association has launched a non-institutionalized hospitality project, entirely funded by donations from the volunteers involved (about 90 local families). The association first welcomed a Syrian-Yemeni family with a minor coming from the refugee camp in Lesbos through a humanitarian corridor. Later, an Afghan family, also arriving through a humanitarian corridor after the Taliban takeover, was hosted: husband and wife, both doctors, with five children, one of whom has a severe disability.

Two people in housing emergency were later welcomed as well. The project then expanded to include support for a young Afghan newly turned 18 and an Italian man experiencing housing insecurity.
The project has now grown further, involving many local organizations and transforming into “Threads of Hope” within the Chivasso Peace Committee. Currently, an Afghan family arriving through humanitarian corridors is being hosted.

COMMUNITY MATCHING

Since 2018, the association has joined projects aimed at building cohesive communities and supporting integration, taking charge of activating tutors in the FAMI projects “Ancora” and “Ancora 2.0.” The association is now involved in the UNHCR Community Matching project with CIAC Onlus (Parma) and Mosaico – Actions for Refugees (Turin), and in the Community Matching program in the Ivrea area as part of the Living Better project led by the In Rete Consortium. The program pairs Italian volunteers with foreign volunteers to build friendships, networks, and social relationships to support inclusion into the local social fabric.

Thanks to its wide range of activities, the Association has become over the years a point of reference for the Chivasso community and for those who wish to offer their skills and time. It has increasingly become a place of encounter and exchange among different generations and cultures, and a place where people can find information, support, and social connections
