The Fondazione Piemontese per la Ricerca sul Cancro Onlus was established in 1986 to offer a significant contribution to the defeat of cancer through the construction in Piedmont of an oncology center, the Candiolo Cancer Institute IRCCS (Turin), capable of combining scientific research with clinical practice and to make the best human and technological resources available to patients.

The Fondazione Piemontese per la Ricerca sul Cancro Onlus is responsible for finding economic resources through fundraising activities and organizes all the initiatives and events necessary to achieve this goal.

The Candiolo Cancer Institute IRCCS is the only Italian cancer research and treatment center created exclusively through the support of over 300,000 private donors who, thanks to their generosity, have made it a center of international importance. The Candiolo Cancer Institute IRCCS is also the only “Scientific Hospitalization and Care Institute” in Piedmont, recognized by the Ministry of Health, testifying to the important discoveries made and published in the most prestigious international scientific journals. It is included in the Oncology Network of Piedmont and Valle d’Aosta and its services are provided in agreement with the National Health Service or in the self-employed regime. It started its business in 1996 and has since developed new spaces and services. Today it covers 56,500 square meters, of which about 10 thousand are dedicated to research. About 800 people work in Candiolo Cancer Institute IRCCS, including Italian and international doctors, researchers, nurses, administrative and technical staff.

The Foundation has foreseen an important development plan for the next few years that will allow the Institute to grow further, thus equipping itself with new spaces to be made available to doctors, researchers and, above all, to patients and people close to them. The goal is to treat far more people and to the upmost.
