EURICSE examines “evidence, challenges and trajectories” for the social economy in Italy in 2025

Last December, EURICSE published Social Economy 2025 – EVIDENCE, CHALLENGES AND TRAJECTORIES FOR ITALY, edited by Gianluca Salvatori and Chiara Carini.

The result of a collaborative effort, as noted by the President of the European Research Institute on Cooperative and Social Enterprises (EURICSE), the book “outlines the main contextual elements of the social economy development process, both in terms of European and national policies, and in terms of statistical analysis tools that allow us to measure the social economy today.”

The volume is divided into two main sections: the first focuses on the European and national context, while the second addresses work within the social economy and the relationship between social economy and territories.

Finally, significant attention is given to the role of the social economy in the “new economic analysis of law,” highlighting, in particular, its ability to generate collective value through organizational models based on participation, reinvestment of profits, and the centrality of people.

Social Economy 2025 offers an analysis grounded in statistical evidence and quantitative research, mapping sector organisations, their characteristics, and the factors that support or hinder their development.
